The brief

XPR Labs was launching Taebo Reboot: Master of the Elements, a virtual reality fitness experience made in partnership with Billy Blanks, on Meta Quest and Pico. The game needed its official trailer.

Billy Blanks

Billy Blanks created Tae Bo, the cardio kickboxing workout that became a home fitness phenomenon: he sold more than 1.5 million VHS tapes in its first year alone. Before that, he was a karate champion who represented the United States at the 1981 World Games, and he holds a 7th dan in taekwondo. He also built a film career, with roles in The Last Boy Scout, Kiss the Girls and Bloodfist.

The approach

I knew the game from the inside: at XPR Labs, I was chief operating officer, and creative director on the whole project. The trailer started from the game's real strengths, carried the energy of the workout into images and kept every shot consistent with the brand. It was produced in one week.

Generative AI in the game

The game itself already relied on generative AI. With his consent, we cloned Billy Blanks' voice with ElevenLabs to make him the in-game fitness coach. The static assets were generated, from the cover image to the 2D art in the game, and more than 150 music tracks in the game were generated too.

Beyond the trailer

On top of the trailer, I made more than 60 AI videos to promote the game on Taebo Reboot's social media, and a large share of the marketing campaign was built on them. We created a brand where superheroes help ordinary people get in shape with the game. All of this ran through 2024 and 2025. It was audacious, and it worked: the videos generated more than 100,000 views on Instagram alone.

The result

It became the main trailer of the game, which was distributed in more than 30,000 copies across five continents.

I worked with Gabriel for years at XPR Labs. When it came time to launch our VR game Taebo Reboot on Meta Quest, he's the one I trusted with the official trailer. He translated the game's energy into images without ever losing sight of the brand. I recommend him without reservation. A true pro.

What this means for your project

The same discipline applies to every project: a clear brief, a brand that stays recognizable in every shot, and a finished piece built for the place it will be seen.
